Although Katie and Guy knew each other through their school years, it was not until their paths crossed again in Sydney that sparks truly flew. After a whirlwind three months together, a year of long distance followed - with the pair flying between Sydney, Perth and Christchurch to see each other. Clearly it was all well worth it once the couple were engaged and the wedding plans hatched. For the Groom's father it was a dream come true when the pair chose his families 100 year old homestead where Guy had grown up, and that is still the family home today - as the stunning summer wedding venue.

For the Bride, who owns her own interiors and styling business, putting together the big day was a pleasure whereby she utilised some of her own pieces and also enlisted the help of friends and family to source others pieces from as far away as Portugal and Spain!

To compliment the style of the historic homestead, the theme of the day was simple, classic, elegance, with flowers and greenery by Flowerhead creating a whimsical and elegant feel. Like a true stylist who knows that less is more, the bride was a big believer in the little details making the biggest impact.

The dress buying process was possibly the easiest part of the process, with the bride deciding on the timeless elegance of the very first dress she tried on – a Caroline Kennedy inspired silk dress by Joanna Johnson. All the following bookings were cancelled…

The unpredictability of South Island weather meant that the couple's desire to dine alfresco style would be tricky. Luckily, the day ended up being completely magical and stayed that way into the evening, so all of the marquee sides could be rolled up. Looking around the open marquee at dusk, seeing the candles lit was a surreal moment as the bride realised it had all come together seamlessly.

Testimonial:
Mildred&Co were the obvious choice when it came to selecting our wedding registry. They stock the best local and international brands and are flawless with their professionalism and little touches. We loved that we could divide our selection between beautiful hand selected pieces and our honeymoon fund. When the gifts arrived they were beautifully wrapped with hand written cards and a bottle of champagne to enjoy while we unwrapped! Thanks again Mildred&Co xx
