Jess and Jared - the force behind Two Foxes Styling and Prop hire, are not only business partners, but husband and wife. Wanting to bring something a bit different, more authentic and downright rad to the NZ wedding scene, Two Foxes was born in 2014 and helps couples with styling their big day as well as offering full wedding planning services and hire. Essentially, whatever you are after - they are up to the challenge!

The Auckland based pair love, live and breathe weddings, are lovers of good coffee, music, anything foraged (well, Jess in particular!), lighting up a dance floor and taking the ordinary to the extraordinary. They believe that marrying your best friend is probably the most excellent thing you get to do in this lifetime and they feel incredibly privileged to help people create these memories.

We got the low-down from this cool and talented couple on how to nail all those details to create the perfect mix on your wedding day.

1. Why are props/styling at a wedding so important ?

We think that props and styling help to convey the personal element of a wedding when done right. You only get to do this once so we are big believers in doing it right the first time. A wedding is a blend of two individuals into one epic day, so the styling should reflect this and work to effortlessly showcase what you and your partner love, reflect you as a couple and complement the space you're working with.

 2. How can a wedding stylist help?

We get this question a lot and honestly the answer should really be how can't we! We are knees deep in this industry so have so much knowledge and experience that you can typically throw a question our way and we can point you in the right direction. Our job is to come in and pull together a brief and a plan that feels true and authentic to our couples. It shouldn’t feel like a regurgitation of a Pinterest wedding, or a copy of something else you have seen out and about.

What we really want to do is pull on those threads or elements our couples love and create a personal and individualised day that is all about them based around these. We work with our couples through the whole process as its a collaboration of ideas at the end of the day. On the day of we rock up to the venue (Typically 3 coffees deep) and start pulling together this incredible plan we have all been scheming and dreaming of for the last year!

 3. How would you describe your style / approach ?

I think at the heart of it we love nature and flow in our designs so as much as possible we try to highlight this by keeping clutter at a low level. Every piece that is included in the day is considered and tailored to our couples and if its out in the space it has a purpose and reason for being there. We keep our dealings with our couples pretty low key and relaxed as honestly it doesn't have to be a stressful time - that's why we are here!

4. What is your absolute favourite wedding look right now?

This is tough, as our favourite is always evolving depending on what we're working on at the time! We are getting a lot of fresh, green and white looks this season which will be a lot of fun and a lot more tropics are making there way into the briefs. We think that one of the best parts about what we do is that it's always fresh and new and no couple is ever the same, so no wedding should be the same from our point of view.
